Extra-Curricular Activities

Swimming
Our Swimming program focuses on water survival and water familiarisation skills and strategies.  A thorough program is offered by qualified teachers at the local swim centre.  This is delivered as an intensive program in year levels.  All legal and safety processes are addressed at all times.

Camps and Excursions
Students attend excursions that relate to topics being covered in their curriculum.  In recent years classes have visited a great range of local locations to broaden their knowledge and experience.

Extended camps also relate to the curriculum and include trips to Melbourne, Ballarat, Canberra, Great Aussie Resort and Borambola.  Children in the younger grades experience single night sleepovers at school with teacher and parents.  Camps and excursions contribute to the development of concepts and understandings, as well as promoting independence and relationships.

Sport
At Baranduda Primary School importance is placed on students engaging in active sport.  Opportunities extend outside of the school sports program to include District, Zone and State competition. The school participates in the Wodonga Zone Winter Sports Carnival.  Sports played in recent years include soccer, netball, softball, football and hockey.  Students that demonstrate advanced skills in particular sports are encouraged to trial for representative teams.

The school runs athletic and cross country events every year for students Foundation – Year 6.  Students aged between 9 and 12 years have the opportunity to represent the school at District level and then at Zone level. Sport is recognised as an important part of the whole school curriculum and students are encouraged to maximise their potential.

We believe that sport is a community resource that can be used to enhance the quality of life for all students and should be recognised and promoted as such for the future.
Performing
Baranduda Primary students are encouraged to shine in many ways. At our annual school concert students perform within classes as well as individually in our Baranduda’s Got Talent contest and performance groups. There are also multiple times throughout the year when students have the opportunity to present items at assembly or lead elements of assembly.

Cultural Activities
Visits occur each term to enhance the cultural experiences of our students. These include dance workshops, science fairs and live theatre.
